Oxford United head for Carlisle on Saturday with Head Coach Des Buckingham looking for his side to set the right tone for the second half of the season.
Two cup games have punctuated the league fixture list and with 21 games left Des is hoping his side can build momentum when they resume their League 1 campaign.
“We have won three of our last five league games” he told iFollow today “and we are in a strong position. Now we want to make sure we start this second part of the season the right way.
“We have two new faces in Jamie Cumming and Tyler Burey - three if you include Joe Bennett who was only meant to stay until January initially, plus more familiar ones coming back after injury.
“Greg Leigh will travel with us and he and Joe will push each other for that left-back role and we are hoping that Josh Murphy, Sam Long and Stephan Negru are close by the following game at home to Northampton. That gives you options and competition and that’s happening at a key stage of the season.
“It’s not going to be easy. Carlisle were good in the game at our place even though we won that 1-0, and then you look at their home results compared to their away games and they are stronger at home.
“We will train early on Friday morning then get on the road and get there early enough so we are as prepared as we can be. Credit to the fans who make that journey on Saturday and hopefully we all travel home happy after a good performance and another win.”
