Cameron Cooper Joins Oxford’s Academy

Oxford United Academy are delighted to announce the signing of Scottish striker Cameron Cooper who completed his scholarship at Rangers.

Cameron has been training with the squad for several months and scored once and assisted twice in the U19s 5-1 friendly win over Brentford on Saturday, playing on the left wing.

Cameron told OUFC.co.uk

“I’m buzzing; since I found out I could get the opportunity to come down here I’ve been really looking forward to it and I just can’t wait to get started.

“All the boys have been great with me, as well as all the coaches and all the staff. Everyone around the buildings been really good and really helpful with settling me in so I’ve enjoyed it so far. I’ve been building relationships with the other boys on and off the pitch.

“I’ve now got the opportunity to play for Oxford United and when I came down and spoke to Stevie Kinniburgh, it was a bit of a no brainer for me. The way the club wants to move forward, the way they give young boys a chance – it’s all you can ask for and now it’s up for me to take it.

“I’m just buzzing to get going and show what I can do. I’m fresh, fit and ready to go in competitive games and set a marker.

Academy Manager Stevie Kinniburgh told us

"Cameron is a player who I have known about for a while and when I heard there was an opportunity to talk to him I was delighted.

"Seeing him in our environment over the past few months and seeing how quickly he has adapted to a new team has been exciting and I am looking forward to seeing him pull on the yellow jersey in the future.
