Oxford United Women’s winger Sarah King made her 50th appearance for the club in the County Cup last weekend.
King has an exceptional record for the U’s, having played a role in every game since joining the club either as a starter or from the bench, other than one she missed with illness earlier this season.
We caught up with Sarah, to reflect on her time in Yellow
“Oxford united means a lot to me (even though I am from Swindon). The club has really helped progress and there is so much support around from fans and staff. Oxford has developed my confidence in all areas as well as coaching me to have a better understanding of the game and my roles and responsibilities,” said King.
“My standout moments have to be when Chez scored a last-minute equaliser against Southampton and no one could catch up with her celebration. The best away trip was down to Ipswich towards the end of last season as we got the well-deserved win and Merrick Will scored an absolute worldie. Another would be scoring a goal in the opening game against Gillingham last season on my debut.
Sarah is part of a squad who have gone unbeaten in the League this season, and spoke about how important the dressing room morale has been in achieving that
“There are so many funny characters amongst the group which means there is never a dull moment at training. Everyone is so supportive and have helped me build my confidence overtime. I hope there will be plenty more appearances to come for me at Oxford because I enjoy playing in the environment that the club creates.
“All the staff work so hard to keep everything running smoothly and help with areas of your game which other clubs don’t work on. They create a great environment to train in and offer great support.
