Manning: We Need the Fans

Oxford United will once again call on their fans to make a big difference when they welcome Cheltenham Town to the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday night.

“The players are very united and know what they have to do” boss Liam Manning told iFollow. “They are in this together and they care. I see them walk in every day and I see them in the dressing room after games; they are hurting. That’s good. They have to be and should be.

“ I am the same, but it’s then about how you respond to that. You can’t sit around and feel sorry for yourself, you have to stand up, be counted and grab the opportunities.

“Going into these last three games there is an opportunity for someone to step up and go and take responsibility and arguably become a hero to the fans.

“Those fans were outstanding last Tuesday against Portsmouth and we are going to need that from minute one tomorrow night.

“It’s a plea from me, a challenge: can you get behind the team, make it as uncomfortable for Cheltenham as possible while at the same time giving our lads every bit of positivity that you can. That makes a huge difference. It was evident last Tuesday and we are going to need it again on Tuesday night.”
