Oxford United Head of Medical Amy Cranston put her best foot forward yesterday to help our friends at Helen & Douglas House.
Amy completed the London Marathon in an excellent time of three hours 53 minutes, but just as importantly smashed her fundraising target for Helen & Douglas House.
She told us
"It was an amazing day. It was tough going, particularly at the start, but the crowds kept me going - I had friends and family there and there were a few shouts of 'Yellows' which was great to hear. I'd set a target of £2,500 and want to thank everyone who has chipped in and contributed. It's a wonderful charity; I've done a skydive for them and now run a marathon as well but I've done that because they help so many families. It was a pleasure to help."
Amy's efforts have raised around £4,100 which the club are delighted to top up to £5,000; doubling her intial target and sent to Helen & Douglas House with love.
The team running on their behalf have raised well over £50,000 at this year's Marathon. Congratulations to all involved.
Helen and Douglas House are the world’s first children’s hospice, providing invaluable support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
As a charity, they have to raise £3.6million each year to support their community, with 81% of the funding coming from the general public.
