Oxford United Women will play their first cup game of the season when they travel to the South Coast to play AFC Bournemouth Women on Sunday in the League Cup.
Kick off is at 2 PM at Ringwood Town and entrance is free.
The Yellows will look to add a cup run to their excellent start to the season, in which they have won all four league games without conceding.
Bournemouth come into the game off the back of a thumping 8-0 away victory over Keynsham Town Ladies. The Cherries now sit top of the FA Women’s National League Division One South West with three wins and one draw, having only conceded one goal.
Despite being the league below the U’s, manager Liam Gilbert knows this will not be an easy test.
“We are looking forward to it. It’s exciting to play against different teams, especially from different divisions in these cup competitions. Bournemouth are a really good side who have got a great infrastructure and have started really well. It’s a chance for us to take a break from the intensity of the league and potentially try a couple of new things as well, but a cup tie is always a challenge.
“We just want to keep playing games at the minute and continue the way we are playing because the girls are enjoying it so much. We want to win every game that we play, we won’t change that. We’ll keep going and focus on the next game ahead.”
The U’s return to league action the following Sunday, the 18th September when they host Billericay Town Women at Court Place Farm.
