Sunday can’t come quickly enough as the U’s take on Burton Albion at the Kassam Stadium looking to reach the play-offs for a second year in a row.
“We’re still in it and just have to look after ourselves” midfielder Cameron Brannagan told iFollow today. “What will be will be and we just have to take care of our own jobs on Sunday, win our last game and hopefully that gets us to where we want to be.
“Last weekend at Shrewsbury was fantastic and it has given us a great chance. It was weird last weekend and hard to explain.
"When you know you need to win football games and how important they are then there is an edge but in any game we know there is not one player here who won’t give one hundred percent. We have that fighting spirit and we never give up. That was us last weekend in a nutshell; we kept plugging away, we got our reward and now we have to try to do that again on Sunday.
“For us to reach the play-offs would be amazing. We didn’t have the best of starts, everyone knows that, but we have found our feet and started to play our way again.
“Some games have been frustrating but that’s part and parcel of this league. It’s a tough division and there are some very good teams but we have battled our way through, whatever conditions or whatever setbacks we have had along the way. Same for me personally. I am thankful to be back playing and I now feel the best I have felt for a long time.
“I am enjoying my football and hopefully on Sunday we enjoy ourselves, we get the result and the season carries on for a little while longer…”
