Kie Plumley Signs Pro Deal

Oxford United are pleased to announce that goalkeeper Kie Plumley has signed his first professional contract with the club.

Kie, 18, joined the U’s as a scholar having already played senior football for Camberley Town. Over the last two years he has stepped up to become the under 21s goalkeeper and more recently has been on the bench in the First Team for the last few games as cover for Simon Eastwood.

“It’s a dream come true” he told us after signing a one and a half year deal, with a further year’s option. “All I ever wanted was to become a professional footballer and I am determined to make the most of this opportunity.

“I was maybe a bit rough around the edges when I joined but all of the coaches, and Wayne Brown in particular, have been amazing. I also want to mention Camberley who first gave me a chance and Weston Super Mare because I went there on loan earlier in the season and that was really where things started to come together for me.

“Being around the First Team for the last month or so has shown me the standards I need to set in everything I do and now I just want to keep learning, work hard, and see how far I can go.”

Goalkeeping Coach Wayne Brown told us

“Kie has a real chance. Physically he is a good size, he is a good talker and organiser and his attitude is spot on. He listens, he learns fron the other keepers as well as the coaches and I’m really pleased for him to get that pro contract. Hopefully it’s just the start.”
