The staff of Oxford United were pleased to lend a helping hand this morning as they helped prepare gifts and hampers for the patients and staff on the wards at Oxford's Hospitals this Christmas.
The Backroom team, including Peter Rhoades-Brown, joined the Oxford Hospitals Charity volunteers to pack 1,500 patient gift bags and 45 staff hampers for staff rooms across Oxfordshire’s four hospitals.
‘Rosie’ explains:
"During Covid the Oxford Hospitals Charity sent out patient activity packs and ward hampers and they made a huge difference to patients and staff – not only because of the useful products they contain but also because they know people are thinking of them.
“This year we helped get Luker Bros Storage involved as a location to pack things together in a large and safe environment and they have been brilliant, as have so many local people -some of the items in the hamper have been donated by local companies, local supermarkets are helping provide mince pies and crackers and local schools are writing the Christmas cards. The charity is also funding loads of activities suitable for patients in hospital, and this will really raise a smile.’
“We are really happy to also help the charity pack all of these things up and get them delivered in time for Christmas, but we would love fans to help us as well, by making a donation, however small, and help the hospitals in Oxford.”
Go on, it's Christmas...
