Oxford United’s under 18s face a local derby on Saturday when they welcome Swindon Town to the Oxford Sports Park in the EFL Youth Alliance.
The youth team were beaten for the first time this season when they travelled to AFC Bournemouth last weekend and coach Leon Blackmore Such is looking for a reaction from his players
“It’s all about learning and it’s the first time we get to see how players respond after a defeat. It should be a good game. There was a little bit of an edge, nothing nasty just what you would expect from a local derby, when we played in the League Cup the other week and I’m sure Swindon will be out for revenge after that game
“Sam Johnson and Callum Crook, two of the second years, have gone out on loan this week to Kidlington to gain experience and that in turn means it will be a very young side because we are pushing our first years and under 16s through.
“We’ve trained well this week so let’s see how we go and do our best to get another win.”
The game is behind closed doors but we will have a report and reaction right here.
