Oxford United players Simon Eastwood and Cameron Brannagan visited local school John Henry Newman this afternoon to surprise a young fan ahead of Saturday’s game.
Young fan Lewis had a day to remember as he was surprised by his favourite player Eastwood, who presented him with a full Oxford United goalkeeper kit as well as Brannagan who told him he was going to be a mascot on Saturday at the U’s home fixture against Shrewsbury Town.
Both Eastwood and Brannagan spent time with all of the schoolchildren answering questions and signing autographs whilst also being treated to a song by one of the pupils ahead of their school nativity.
Eastwood told us:
“We came along to a local school in Oxford and gave away a shirt and one of the lads is going to be mascot on Saturday. I think it made his day. It’s the young kids who come and watch us and it’s really nice for the lads to come in for an hour or so to local schools or hospitals and the kids really appreciate it so it’s definitely worthwhile.”
