Oxford United returned home to train at the Kassam Stadium today as they put the finishing touches to their preparations for the home game against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.
“It was good” Karl Robinson told iFollow.”We got back late from Exeter and stayed next door at the Hilton then had breakfast and came over to train here. Over the last two weeks Firoka and Oxford United have sat down and come to an agreement over Singha, which is good, but training here came after another really good conversation the other week and we stayed in the hotel next to the ground last night and had a really good night’s sleep.
“The players loved it and having it there meant we were able to walk over and use the manager’s office for the first time for me, use the pitch, and use the sort of stuff that we need to use to prepare for Saturday. There was a real sense of togetherness about the building and that means a lot to me. Hopefully it’s just the start of a relationship that moves forward.”
The U’s are already without the suspended Alex Gorrin this weekend and there was one new injury to deal with after Wednesday night’s leasing.com Trophy game at Exeter.
“There was one new injury last night which I don’t want to say too much about” Karl confirmed. “They say these things happen in threes and yesterday I had a message around 9 in the morning to say Shandon had a reaction after training on Monday. Then another message to say Cameron Brannagan had a reaction after training on Tuesday. Then we lost on penalties and I thought that was the three but we came in this morning and there was a different injury to deal with.
"So not a great day and it’s up to us to respond now and be ready for Saturday.”
