PREVIEW Sunderland v Oxford United

Oxford United head for Sunderland tomorrow looking to quieten a huge home crowd and make it three wins in a row after beating Burton and Newport this week

TEAM NEWS

Boss Karl Robinson is forced in to at least one change after Jamie Hanson's red card on Tuesday was upheld despite an appeal. The midfielder misses three games after his dismissal at Rodney Parade.

Samir Carruthers, Simon Eastwood and Rob Hall are again ruled out with long term injuries while Tony McMahon, who missed Tuesday with a tight hamstring, is a doubt.

Hanson's absence may mean Josh Ruffels reverting to midfield and Luke Garbutt, excellent on Tuesday night, stepping in at left back, but Shandon Baptiste was also very good in the cup and could play in that slightly deeper role, with Marcus Browne, Ricky Holmes and Jamie Mackie all available again and pressing for a place in the starting XI.

THE OPPOSITION

Sunderland have a 100% record at home in the league so far after wins over Charlton and Scunthorpe and are expecting a crowd of over 30,000 on Saturday.

Manager Jack Ross will make a decision on striker Charlie Wyke and Tom Flanagan who are back in training after inury:

"We had Charlie and Tom back on the pitch with us" he said "“We will take another look at them tomorrow, but we have still got enough within our squad to be able to deal with the challenges on Saturday.”
