Youngsters Lose Out

Development squad unlucky in first game

United's Development Squad were unlucky to lose in a friendly at Birmingham City this afternoon.

The Development side, newly introduced this season, is made up of under-21 players who the club hope will benefit from playing a regular series of games against similar sides throughout the year. Today they faced a very strong Birmingham side away from home, losing 1-0 but acquitting themselves well against their Championship opponents.

The U's had Max Crocombe in goal and a back line of second year scholar Sam Humphreys and young pros Matt Bevans, Kenzer Lee and David Lynn. The three Joshes: Shama, Ashby and Ruffels were joined by Callum O'Dowda in a four man midfield while Tyrone Marsh and a trialist played up front.

United created chances and more than held their own against their higher division hosts. We hope to bring you video highlights as well as reaction in Yellow Player as soon as we can.
