Fans join players for Open Training Session
There was a fantastic turnout this morning as Oxford United held an open training session for season-ticket holders and Junior Members.
Over 200 people, young and old, came along to watch the first-team squad being put through their paces, leaving everyone impressed with the fitness and ability of United’s players.
The morning started at a gentle pace, with the players doing gentle warm-ups inside and outside the gym before the action moved to the training pitch at the Rover Sports Club. Here the crowd watched a variety of high-tempo training drills, culminating with a short match. The whole session lasted around two hours.
Chris Wilder and the players then held a question-and-answer session, with the manager responding to numerous queries from the enthusiastic crowd, before the traditional Juniors v players game ended with an emphatic 2-0 win to the dozens of children, goalkeepers David Hunt, Johnny Mullins and Scott Davies’ combined powers unable to stop the goals.
The whole event was filmed by Sky Sports News and will be shown soon. It was also captured for Yellow Player, where you can see for yourself some of the drills and entertainment on offer.
