PREVIEW: Portsmouth vs Oxford United

Portsmouth

Oxford United make the trip to Fratton Park on Saturday for an early (12.30pm) kick off, with the U's still looking for their first away win of the season.

However, Oxford will be buoyed by their 2-2 draw at Luton Town on Tuesday, having been 2-0 down at one stage.

OXFORD UNITED

United will still be without Cameron Brannagan, Przemysław Płacheta and long-term absentee Joe Bennett, while doubts remain over Matt Phillips' involvement. Will Goodwin was on the bench on Tuesday and will hope to get some minutes on the pitch for the first time this season. Oxford will be hoping that Jamaica international Greg Leigh will have recovered from the sickness that kept him out of the squad for Luton in midweek and Josh McEachran stands by for a return to action.

Right-back Peter Kioso said: "Obviously Portsmouth has its own history and going down to Fratton Park is a hostile environment. They like to make it tough for the teams that come there but we're going down there to win a game of football and that's what we're concentrating on." PORTSMOUTH

Pompey will be keen to put Tuesday night's 6-1 hammering at Stoke City behind them that left them second from bottom in the Championship table. They have yet to win a game this season.

Head coach John Mousinho said, "We go into every game and try to win it, but I don’t think there’s any point in sugar-coating it and me trying to play it down.

"If we don’t win the game on Saturday, the season isn’t over and we have plenty to play for. But my attitude is it’s a must-win, we have to win the match at the weekend.

"I don’t think you can lose 6-1 win and not make changes going into the weekend, so we’re going to make some.

"If we’d had poor performances going into the game and it was another poor performance, you’d have to look at certain positions and certain individuals. We’re going to do that anyway, but we played really well at the weekend going into the game.

"I think we have to take everything on balance - don’t over-react but also don’t under-react. We have to get it right."
