Oxford United Women are delighted to announce that Cecily Wellesley-Smith has been called up to represent the England Under-17 side in the upcoming World Cup.
The centre-back has been an incredible success story of the Oxford United Women’s Academy pathway, and her fantastic form has been rewarded with a spot in next week’s Women’s Under-17 World Cup.
Taking place in the Dominican Republic, England is set to take on Korea DPR, Mexico and Kenya in the group stage which begins on 16 October, through until 3 November.
The Lionesses will start their campaign on Thursday 17 October when they face Kenya, with three days in between each of the next two ties against Mexico and Korea DPR.
All of us here at Oxford United are delighted to see Cecily called up to the squad and we wish her and the rest of the women all the best in the World Cup.
