PREVIEW: Oxford United vs Watford

Watford

Oxford United welcome Watford to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday (3:00pm kick off) in the last game before the international break.

This is Watford's first league visit to Oxford since March 1999, when the sides fought out a goalless draw. The Hornets have visited the Kassam for a League Cup game in 2020, which ended 1-1 with the visitors winning the penalty shoot-out.

OXFORD UNITED

The U's were without Cameron Brannagan on Wednesday, with captain Elliott Moore leaving the field at Hull City. Gary Rowett is yet to update on whether both will be ready for Saturday. He was replaced by fit-again Ben Nelson, who will be hoping for a place in the starting line-up.

GREEN FOOTBALL'S GREAT SAVE

Saturday's game is United's dedicated 'Green Football Game' in support of Green Football's Great Save campaign, as we unite to help save the game we love.

The Green Football Great Save initiative runs from 11 March to 2 April, to bring together fans, clubs, and communities to combat the climate crisis and safeguard football’s future.

To mark our participation, we’re allowing fans to donate old sports kits using special drop-off bins provided by our local business partner, Grundon Waste Management.

These bins will be outside the Club Shop on Matchday, offering an easy way to recycle unwanted kit and prevent it from ending up in landfills. Whether it’s an old Oxford United shirt or any other sports gear, we encourage you to support this campaign and drop off your items.

After donating your kit, be sure to scan the QR code at the drop-off point to score green goals and enter a prize draw.

WATFORD

The visitors come into the game off the back of a 1-0 win over Swansea City on Wednesday, their fourth clean sheet in five games, although they have won just one of their last four away matches.

Manager Tom Cleverley said after the game that Watford now have 'nine cup finals' remaining, starting this Saturday at Oxford.
