Oxford United can confirm the registered squad list for the EFL Sky Bet Championship 2024/25 season.
United have started the season back in the second tier with two impressive home wins, and now, following the close of the transfer window, clubs must submit a 25-man squad to be registered to play in league matches.
As per league rules, when submitting squad lists, Under-21 players do not need to be registered. However, all loan players must be registered to play no matter their age.
United have registered the following players:
Cameron Brannagan
Ciaron Brown
James Cumming
Ruben Rodrigues
Owen Dale
Siriki Dembele
Kyle Edwards
Idris El Mizouni
Will Goodwin
Mark Harris
Matt Ingram
Peter Kioso
Greg Leigh
Sam Long
Josh McEachran
Elliot Moore
Matthew Phillips
Przemyslaw Placheta
Louie Sibley
Hidde Ter Avest
Jordan Thorniley
William Vaulks
Malcolm Ebiowei
Benjamin Nelson
Dane Scarlett
Unfortunately, the Club can confirm that left-back Joe Bennett has not been registered due to suffering an injury in the recent home game against Preston North End that will keep him out until the end of this calendar year.
Joe has been a vital part of the Club’s recent success after arriving on a short-term deal in November 2023, which was then extended in January and again during the summer. The 34-year-old had started all four of the U's opening Championship games.
Speaking on the announcement of the squad list, Des Buckingham said: “It has been an incredibly busy summer to try and put a squad in place that we feel can go into this Championship season and compete.
“Overall, I’m extremely pleased with the work that took place over the transfer window and I feel as a Club we are in a much stronger position than we were at the beginning of the summer.
“We have added real quality to our group and after a promising start to the season, I feel confident in this group that we have put together.
“We must work within the squad limit and it's disappointing to lose Joe until the New Year as he has been an outstanding player and person since arriving at the Club in November.
“We have also developed our goalkeeping department in the off-season which will see Simon Eastwood miss out on being registered on our squad list.
"I must re-emphasise that Simon is such an important person to this Club and to our group. He has been so vital to the Club on this journey back to the Championship and he will remain an extremely important person to us every day at the Training Ground.
"Simon keeps our standards to an absolute maximum and can step into the squad should injuries take place to both our registered goalkeepers.
“We have had a promising start to the season with two important home wins, but we know the demands of this league and how challenging it can be. However, we have the utmost confidence in this group of players that we can continue to improve and have a positive campaign.”
