PREVIEW Des Buckingham on Cheltenham

Oxford United look to get back to winning ways at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm) as they host Cheltenham Town in Sky Bet League One.

Des Buckingham told OUFC.co.uk

“It's been a good week on the training pitches, we showed last week that having a flat week where we don't have to prepare Saturday, Tuesday, gives us a chance to work on our playing style and we’ve delved into a bit more detail on that.

“It’s about using that performance against Portsmouth as a platform to work from because that's certainly the style of football we want to play with the ball and certainly the structure and the effort that we need.

“The key thing is now making sure that we bring that performance back to the Kassam and show our home support that type of football and give them something to get behind and help us get the result we all want.

“Cheltenham are in a position in the league where they will make the game extremely difficult. They'll be fighting for points for different reasons than us and will pose a lot of different problems and it's making sure that we recognize what those challenges will be, but we don't stray too far away from what we want to do.

“We spoke about arriving at the back end of the season strong and it’s important to get a run going now. I think you you've seen in previous campaigns, teams that arrive into the playoffs with a good run of form often go on to do very well.

“For Blue Light Day, there are so many different services across the country and it’s so important that we show our appreciation for them. I'm expecting a really good turnout and I encourage everyone to get along early to the game and go and explore and engage with every single service that will be there.
