Oxford United Women are on the road this weekend as they travel to Portsmouth Women on Sunday 24th September in the FAWNL Southern Premier Division.
Kick off is at 2PM at Westleigh Park, PO9 5TH.
Tickets are priced at £8 for Adults, £5 for Seniors (65+) and £3 for U18s and can be purchased online HERE or on the gate.
It’s shaping up to be a cracking game at Westleigh Park, as only a point separates the two sides that went toe-to-toe in the promotion battle last season.
There were fond memories made at Portsmouth’s ground last season when Carly Johns bent a last-minute winner into the top corner to all but knock the home side out of the title race late on in the season.
The U’s go in to the game having scored nine in two games without reply. Portsmouth, however, beat Chatham Town 8-0 in their last game and so it’s fair to say there’ll be goals in this one.
Interim Manager George Anthony told us
“It’s going to be a tough game they’ve had a good start to the season and have made some good signings. We’re just looking forward to it, we want to be in tough games and no that you’re going in to a battle.
“Each game we’re starting to see better relationships form and it’s stuff we’ve been working on and it’s been a bit of a long time coming so it’s nice to see it happening more regularly and allowing us to create, score and keep clean sheets.
“We want to get three points in every game we go to. We’ve put the start of the season behind us and our focus is on the next game and then the game after that. We’re believing in what we’re doing and that’s the main message: believe and back yourselves.
