Oxford United look to keep their excellent away form going when they travel to Stevenage on Saturday.
It’s the club’s Family Away Day and with a sold-out away end there should be a great atmosphere at the Lamex Stadium as third welcomes second in Sky Bet League 1.
“A Family Away Day is a great idea and I hope they have a fantastic day,” Liam Manning told iFollow today.
“Family is the most important thing and it’s great that the club has arranged this for Saturday. The atmosphere has been great away from home at places like Derby and Barnsley, and hopefully we give them something to get behind and they generate a bit of noise.
“The lads do up their game and raise their levels when the fans get behind them. That happened at Fleetwood and last Saturday at home to Exeter. It was tense but after about 75 minutes I thought the fans raised the noise and played a big part in getting us over the line. All through the season they will be key in helping the lads do that.
“All the support we receive is always greatly appreciated. We will need it at Stevenage. They are a good side and they have the momentum from promotion, which is a big thing.
“You have a year where you get used to winning and it becomes a habit and part of your culture. They have rolled that on into this season, having done good work to strengthen during the summer. Credit to Steve who has done an excellent job since he went in there.
“But as we say every single week, they are all tough games. You get different challenges thrown at you, and we know it’s going to be extremely difficult against a well-organised side with clear principles on how they play, and they are effective at it. We have to be ready for that, but we have definitely done the work this week and so we go into the game in a good position.”
