Oxford United Women lost for the first time at home in the league for 32 games yesterday afternoon, when Hashtag United ran out as 2-1 winners at Court Place Farm.
Interim Manager George Anthony gave us his thoughts on the streak-ending defeat.
“I think we just didn’t start the game fast enough and then intensity that we wanted wasn’t there, which is something we identified as a group in the last 30 minutes which was much better.
“We were under pressure for long periods but I thought we did defend well. Conceding two when we did was a gut blow for us and the opposition made it really difficult for us to get back into the game, but it’s about how we manage to work around those things in the game.
“Our focus moves straight to the midweek game against Rugby Borough and we need to make sure we’re doing the good things we did today much earlier in the game.
“We’ll get our rest and recovery in and make sure we’re focused and ready to go for Wednesday night. It was disappointing today but we’ve got to pick ourselves back up and go again.
The U’s are straight back in action on Wednesday 6th September away at Rugby Borough’s Nationwide Windows Arena, CV21 4PN
