Oxford United U18s beat Bristol City U18s 2-1 in the Professional Development League Cup on Saturday.
Aaron Lacey opened the scoring with his second goal in as many games – an almost identical set piece header than the one he scored a week ago in the FA Youth Cup.
Leo Snowden then doubled the lead in the first half, finishing off a nice team move after pinball in the six-yard box.
Bristol City pulled one back before half time but the young U’s were able to hold on to the victory over the Category 2 Academy.
Coach Pablo Haysham told OUFC.co.uk
“It was a really strong performance from the boys against a strong Bristol City side. It was important that when we went two ahead, we stayed disciplined and controlled the game and credit to the lads they did that.
“It’s great to see Aaron contributing with goals and he’s a real threat from set pieces, and also for Leo to keep getting experience in the older group. He’s standing up to the test and doing really well.
