Oxford United get a chance to put things right immediately when they welcome league leaders Bolton Wanderers to the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday night.
Defeat at Cheltenham Town on Saturday saw the U’s slip to third in the Sky Bet League 1 table but as defender Ciaron Brown told iFollow, they have an immediate opportunity to show what they can do when they take on Bolton.
“We weren't good enough on Saturday and didn’t get started in the first half or play the way we want to play” he told Follow. “We all know that, and as a team our standards weren’t good enough. I thought we started the second half much better, we got on the ball and created chances but they kind of sucker-punched us and that killed the game for us and took our momentum away. But over all it wasn’t good enough on the day.
“We spoke at half time about needing to raise it and we did create chances but they didn’t go our way and we should be able to control the game a bit better than we did.
“We know the standards we have and what better way to show a positive reaction than on Tuesday night against Bolton? We will look to bounce back and at home we want to pay it back to the fans and a get a good result for them.
“They were amazing on Saturday, like they have been all season, so let’s try and get a win for them on Tuesday night.”
