Oxford United will thank the fans on Sunday when they welcome Accrington Stanley to the Kassam Stadium for the final game of the Sky Bet League 1 campaign (12pm kick off)
There will be another big crowd there to back the U’s and as Head Coach Liam Manning told iFollow, it’s a chance for the players to applaud the way the supporters have got behind them through a tricky season.
“We will go off the pitch at the fnal whistle and then come back to applaud the fans” he said. “It’s not about them cheering for us - avoiding relegation isn’t cause for any celebration. But it’s a chance for us to show our appreciation and thank the fans who have been brilliant for us.
“There was a moment against Portsmouth when we went behind early on and I looked at the stands and wondered how they were going to react. But what they did was remarkable. They seemed to sense we needed them and they really raised the volume and encouragement. We got a draw from that game and deserved more but it felt like everyone was pulling in the same direction.
“Forest Green was great, the players and fans together, and we’ll thank them properly for that support on Sunday.”
Come along and see the U’s one last time this season
