Oxford United were pleased to have Stephan Negru back in training yesterday after a swift recovery from an ankle injury in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup game at Oxford City a week ago.
Negru has made a great impression since joining from Shelbourne earlier in January and been included in the squad for recent First Team matches, but hobbled off at Court Place Farm last Wednesday and left the ground in a protective plastic ‘boot'.
"That was just a precaution” he told us today. “I wanted to play on in the game but they took me off just to be safe. It was sore for a day or two but the medical team here are brilliant, we got everything checked out and it felt good to be back out there on Monday and it felt fine today so hopefully that’s over and done with.”
Meanwhile midfielder Oisin Smyth returned to the U’s yesterday after his month long loan at Solihiull came to an end.
“I enjoyed it” he said. “I got a bit of game time, they are a good set of lads and I wish them well for the rest of the season.”
