Oxford United Women's Development Squad beat Oxford City Women 6-0 at Court Place Farm this afternoon to progress to the County Cup Final.
It was a unique game, in that both sides were playing at their home ground, and with free entry plenty came down from either side to watch the two Oxfordshire outfits battle it out in the winter sunshine.
It was United, however, that won the Clash for Court Place Farm.
The Yellows took the lead within two minutes, as City keeper Nicole Spittle could only parry an Anais Harris-Beecher cross-come-shot, and Oana Negrea volleyed home at the back post.
Chez Williams doubled the advantage in the 13th minute, capitalising on a City mistake as they tried to play out from the back. Negrea nicked the ball and Williams span and struck home for two.
United then scored a quickfire third and fourth, Lois Joslyn’s cross looping into the back of the net in the 26th minute before Lauren Haynes put it on a plate for Negrea to get her second of the day two minutes later.
Jasmine Allen made a fantastic goal line clearance on the stroke of half time and the U’s went into the break four goals ahead.
Holly Sellwood nearly scored an exceptional goal seconds after half time, scooping the ball over the City keeper but bouncing onto the bar.
On the hour mark Negrea completed her hattrick, converting from inside the box to make it five for United.
City defended spiritedly and did well to prevent the home side (confusing, I know) from scoring more, but ultimately the gulf in class showed.
Negrea smashed home her fourth off the day from close range with five to go, and United's Development Squad cruised into the County Cup Final.
