There was no hiding the frustration as James Henry spoke to iFollow after the 1-0 defeat at Cambridge on Saturday.
The experienced midfielder tried his utmost as a late substitute for the U’s but refused to hide behind the fact that the U’s are working hard without getting results at the moment
“Effort should be a given” he said. “Collectively as players we have not been good enough all season, it’s as simple as that. There is only so much the staff can give us; when we are out there on that pitch it’s us that need to find a way of winning games and right now we’re not doing that.
“We have to get on the front foot from the very first minute, not wait until the last half hour when we are 1-0 down to try and find something. It’s got to be from minute one.
“I went over to apologise to the fans and I understand their frustration. It comes from the same thing: we weren’t good enough today.
“We have the experience and the players to turn things around but we have got to do it now. We can’t just keep saying ‘oh there’s always another game’. It’s got to be now. We have to start taking the bull by the horns and find another way to get ourselves out of the mess we have got ourselves into.”
