Oxford United look to turn a good week into an excellent one as they travel to Barnsley on Saturday in Sky Bet League 1.
Wins over Carlisle and Derby have left the U’s in the early play-off places but as Liam Manning told iFollow today, it’s far too early to start getting carried away.
“The energy and the mood can change very quickly in a week” he said. “This time a week ago we had lost the first league game and were doing our recovery after the Bristol City game.
"I know our fans enjoyed the win over Carlisle and then the game at Derby and it’s important to enjoy those performances together but as I keep saying we stay grounded as a group. We look to turn up and deliver every single day and that is what allows us to put in performances like we did at Derby.
“Barnsley will be tough. They reached the final of the play-offs last season and although they have had a bit of a change over the summer it doesn’t make them any less of a goal threat or less physical. It is another difficult away game, but they all are. That has been a consistent theme this season so far.
“We don't have any new injuries to worry about. It was a late night on Tuesday and sleep is the most important part of the recovery process but the lads went through a thorough recovery programme yesterday and then were in today.
“We had an Open Day with the fans here and that was great. Hopefully they saw the hard work and the way we prepare for a game, and if we can get a result for those fans again on Saturday then it will have been a really good week.”
