LAST WORD: Elliott Moore On Derby Win

Oxford United made it two wins in two games as they turned in a memorable performance at Pride Park last night.

Two goals from Mark Harris earned the U’s a 2-0 win, their first away victory of the season, and as skipper Elliott Moore, outstanding on the night, told iFollow it was a performance built on hard work and a rapidly-developing team spirit:

“I thought it was a brilliant performance” he said. “The win was well-deserved and all of the lads put a great shift in. We played when we needed to play and we defended our own box when we needed to do that. I think everyone out there can hold their heads high tonight.

“Now it is about staying level-headed and going to Barnsley on Saturday with that extra bit of confidence you get from a win.

“I thought we dealt with the pressure late on really well. They had a lot of set pieces and got the ball into our box but we handled that well. Their goal lifted them but in the end I thought we defended those and should be proud of how we played over the whole 90 minutes.

“People look and see Steph playing his fourth league game, Beads in goal being a young lads but both of them have stepped up to the plate and delivered. They were both immense tonight and that gives everyone else confidence, but I thought everyone stepped up and performed. Sparky got two goals but from him right through to Beads everyone defended and worked as a team.

“The fans were great, we appreciate them travelling, and now we look forward to seeing them on Saturday and putting in a similar performance at Barnsley.”
