Oxford United Women will look to continue their perfect start to the season at Court Place Farm on Sunday the against newly promoted Cheltenham Town.
Kick-off is at 2 PM and tickets will be priced at: Adults £6 / Concessions £3 / U16s FREE
Oxford go into the game off the back of three successive victories without conceding, the only team in the league to do so.
Forward Daisy McLachlan, who played 70 minutes on Sunday and opened her account for the season in a full 90 on Tuesday night is looking forward to some recovery time.
“A well-deserved rest is definitely on the cards then we can go into Sunday feeling fully fit and fresh. It’s going to be another hard game, but we are going to be at home so we want to make sure we can continue the unbeaten success we’ve had here, keeping clean sheets and being clinical. We’ll go into it the same as we have with all the games and hopefully come back with 3 points again.”
Cheltenham Town have also started the season well, winning both their opening games. They opened the season with a 3-1 win over Plymouth Argyle and continued that success against Billericay Town, winning 2-1 last Sunday. However they were beaten 2-1 at MK Dons last night.
Women’s Manager Liam Gilbert said:
“The squad and staff have been brilliant. We didn’t get back until 10:30 on Sunday night, they had a day to recover, and then they put in a performance like that against London Bees. I’m really happy with everyone and they fully deserve a day off.”
“Every game this year is going to be tough, they’ve started 2 from 2. They won their league last season and have continued that positive momentum and they’ve got some really good players and are a really organised team. We know to expect a tough game and we can hopefully give a good account of ourselves.”
The U’s had a perfect August and will hope to carry that momentum into September.
