We have a very special guest with us on Saturday when we welcome Burton Albion on Family Day.
At 8-years-old, Fenton Tutty was a bright young footballer playing for Florence Park. He was about to register for Oxford United Academy at the start of his U9s season when he was diagnosed with leukaemia. Fenton and his family stayed strong and optimistic during his treatment and have raised lots of money for the various charities and the Kamran’s Ward at JR that have supported him.
Throughout his treatment Fenton has remained a registered player at Oxford United and has continued to represent the Academy in a host of matches against top Premier League academies such as Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal, all while undergoing his treatment for leukaemia.
We are delighted to say that Fenton finished his treatment for leukaemia on 6th August, and that he is a registered U12s player this season. We look forward to a full season of football for him with no ongoing treatment in the background.
Assistant Academy Manager Matt Jarvis told us:
“We are all immensely proud of Fenton and his progress through the last three seasons and couldn’t be happier to see him coming out of the other side of his leukaemia treatment. It has been amazing to see the overwhelming love and support from his family, friends and the club throughout his difficult treatment.
“Fenton still has a long journey ahead of him in football, but he possesses all the character and values needed to support him and we all look forward to following his journey.”
Help Fenton mark his recovery when he takes to the pitch before kick-off at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday
