World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day is being celebrated around the globe today as we recognise the importance of looking after our own mental health.

Over the last week, the U’s have teamed up with YoungMinds and Pub Talk to orchestrate various initiatives to break down the stigma around mental health issues.

Last Monday saw United and Wycombe deliver a powerful video over social media to highlight staggering statistics around mental health and spread the message about ‘how you feel matters’.

Friday saw Oxford United Women talk about their experiences of mental health from a female perspective and offer their own personal advice on how to deal with mental health issues from their experience.

The game on Saturday with the Chairboys was the club’s Mental Health Awareness Matchday in partnership with YoungMinds and Pub Talk to spread awareness on the topic and raise crucial funds for the amazing work YoungMinds does to support young people’s mental health.

Sunday saw the launch of a signed and Framed YoungMinds top on the club’s auction site, which both the U’s and Wycombe wore during the warm-up on Saturday. After just over 24 hours, the current bid sits at £1,255 with Oxford United agreeing to match the winning bid to donate to the charity.

YoungMinds are on a mission to make sure all young people can access the mental health support that they need, when they need it, no matter what.

We’re working together to break down the stigma around mental health, and to tell you that how you feel matters…

And let you know you’re not alone.
