From The Dug Out

Oxford United make a first ever trip to Sutton United on Tuesday evening, looking to build on a thrilling 4-2 win at Exeter on Saturday.

First Team Coach Leon Blackmore-Such told iFollow earlier today that the game can't come quickly enough for the U’s as they look to put a run of results together in all competitions:

“We have prepped and had our normal meetings and the Manager has made it very clear that we want to win and progress through the group stages and into the knockout stages of the competition” he said. “Our approach has been the same as ever today and we want to carry on and put in another winning performance after Saturday.

“Large parts of that 90 minutes were very positive, some parts we can be better with. We spoke about that this morning as well. It’s about bettering ourselves all the time and keep improving things. We want to take the good things from Saturday’s performance and take them in to the Sutton match, and then do the same things against Peterborough on Saturday.

“Momentum is nice and winning games breeds confidence. We were confident in-house anyway; we keep believing in what we are trying to achieve here as a group and knew a result was going to come. But no way are we thinking we have cracked it now. Whatever the result we will always look and talk about which areas we need to improve and get right.

“We won’t get too far ahead of ourselves. The focus remains the same and the Manager is very good at keeping everyone positive.

“We stayed calm and that helped produce the Exeter performance. We are still in a tough place in the league and it can’t just be one result, we know that.

“But a win, or a win on penalties after a draw, would take us through in this competition so let’s take each game in isolation, focus on getting through, and then we move on to the next challenge”
