Oxford United Women play their first midweek game since August as they travel to MK Dons this evening.
The U’s come into the game having won four on the bounce, most recently beating Chesham United Ladies 6-1 in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.
MK Dons sit tenth in the League, just above the relegation zone, but have won their last two games, and having beaten United at their place last season, will have similar ambitions this time round.
Manager Liam Gilbert said
“It’s going to be tough, not only because we know that they can compete, but also because a lot of our squad are going to have to travel from work. Fortunately, we have great coaching staff behind the scenes here and we communicate with the team so that they’re all happy.”
“Our performances of late have been excellent, but MK Dons are on a decent run of form, so we’ll have to be at the top of our game. We were more clinical last time out, and we hope to see that again from the players to keep our winning streak up” added Gilbert.
Captain Lauren Haynes is due to miss out after being stretchered off the field on Sunday, so Vice Captain Riva Casley will lead the side out at Stadium MK.
“We all know how much of a leader Lauren is and I hope I can take the lessons I’ve learnt from her in to tomorrow’s game. We want another clean sheet and to see the same pictures that have been coming out in the final third. Every game in this division is tough but we’re excited to play in a new environment in such a large stadium” said Casley.
