Cecily Wellesley-Smith from Oxford United Women's Regional Talent Centre wore the armband for England yesterday.
The young centre back captained an England U16 side against Wales U16's at St. Georges Park.
First Team captain Lauren Haynes said "It is an outstanding acheivement and one that everyone at Oxford United Women is extremely proud of. Cecily is a great role model for all the young players coming through the academy."
Cecily played her part as England won on penalties in the friendly.
Manager Liam Gilbert is excited about the young talent coming through the Regional Talent Centre.
"She's a local kid and that makes it an even prouder for us and for Oxfordshire. Hopefully in the coming years she'll be representing Oxford and England at a senior level. We as a club can't wait to see Cecily progress both as a player and a person and we have the infastructure here for her to do that."
Oxford United Women have an exciting WFA Cup fixture against Chesham United Ladies this Sunday at Court Place Farm.
