The Oxford United Academy Awards

The Oxford United Academy season comes to a close this week with staff and players taking a well-earned break.

Academy Manager Dan Harris told us

“First and foremost we thank everyone who has played a part in moving the Academy forward this season. There are so many excellent young footballers in all of our age groups and they are being helped along their pathway by some truly outstanding individuals.

“We had an End of Season Awards presentation and each age group had a Player of the Year winner and we also presented our Team of the Year award to the Under 13s who have had a really positive season.  Remember, all of the age groups had a ‘restart’ this season after Lockdown and it has been a pleasure to see our teams training and playing matches again.

“One nice award was our Coach of the Year which went to Alexandros Evangelakakis who looks after our younger age groups and has also been doing great things with his Cage Football sessions and ball mastery programme across the Foundation Phase.

“We’re looking forward to a short break now and will spend the summer putting the finishing touches to some exciting plans we have  for the Academy at all levels ahead of the new season.”
