Oxford United head for Gillingham on Saturday looking to build on an excellent win at home to Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.
“You can forget the league table, GIllingham’s performances have been better than their results recently and they are going to be really dangerous” Boss Karl Robinson told iFollow.
“The Sheffield Wednesday result is meaningless in terms of Saturday. It gave us a boost of confidence and created a bit of a buzz among the fans and within the Training Ground at an important time; not just winning but winning against a big team in front of almost a full capacity. It felt like a big moment for us. Hopefully that moment is remembered as an iconic one at the end of the season. The players were exceptional and deserve all the credit they have got this week but it won’t influence the game itself.
“Training has been good this week though. The players know they have to train well to get a chance in the team and that means training is really competitive every day.
“They all want to be part of something and that is going to bring out the best in everyone.
"We will let players go this window and we will bring others in but we know we want to keep the unity we currently have among the group. It’s a very tight group and they are training well and that bodes well for the rest of the games coming up.”
