Oxford United’s partnership with Helen & Douglas House got off to a special start on Saturday.
On Friday we announced that Karl Robinson is to be an Ambassador for a place that many United fans will know and love and on Saturday they featured in the matchday programme and on LED boards all around the pitch for our game against Bolton Wanderers.
Karl invited an amazing little girl called Ella along as out Guest of Honour. Ella’s family have strong connections with the club and Helen and Douglas House have done so much to help her family as she fights with unbelievable courage against illness.
This morning we received the following email from mum Kirsty:
“Hi
Just thought I would give you guys a message about the Weekend.
Ella absolutely loved meeting Karl Robinson and her extra special players Sam Long and Matty Taylor before the game.
After the match, although OUFC didn't win they did deserve to, Sam Long approached our stand where Ella was and gave her his shirt he was wearing. This made me so emotional as I know Ella loves him. She did actually get upset and said “but Mummy he's going to get cold”. That's our Ella always thinking of someone else .
Ella has wore this shirt 3 nights running now to bed and I’m not sure she will ever wear her nightdresses again. So sweet.
Please can you personally thank EVERYONE af OUFC for making our little girl smile yet again especially Sam Long and Karl Robinson.
And Thank You Helen & Douglas House for giving us another amazing memory with our Beautiful Ella .
Best wishes
The Greenough family “
Our pleasure Kirsty. Our pleasure.
