PREVIEW Oxford United v Charlton Athletic

Oxford United welcome Charlton Athletic to the Kassam Stadium this evening in Sky Bet League 1 (7.45pm)

TEAM NEWS
United are without Marcus Browne who has a scan today on a hamstring injury picked up at Ipswich on Boxing Day. Lewis Bate missed that game through illness and boss Karl Robinson will wait to see if the on-loan Leeds man is well enough to return to the squad.

Simon Eastwood also missed the game at Portman Road with a calf strain, Ed McGinty coming into the side for a league debut. Eastwood is hopeful of a return but youngster Kie Plumley is added to the squad as goalkeeping cover.

Kyle Joseph and Sam Baldock remain unavailable through injury.

THE OPPOSITION
New Charlton Boss Dean Holden saw his side draw 1-1 against Peterborough United on Boxing Day in his first game at the helm.

“We take the point from Peterborough and we’re now really looking forward to this Oxford game,” he said “We’re going to try and implement our style on them to try and come back to Charlton with three points. That’s the aim.

“Obviously Karl has been in there a while now and they have got a style of play. All of the players are embedded into that philosophy and they have got some real threats in the forward areas.

“Obviously we know where their threats are and, like any game, it’s important that we actually go out and make sure we exploit their weaknesses. I’m really confident that there’s players in this team that can do that.”
