Oxford United look to start 2023 the right way when they welcome Exeter City to the Kassam Stadium on New Year’s Day
United made it just one defeat in 12 games with a convincing win over Charlton on Thursday and Boss Karl Robinson now turns his attention to the Grecians.
“We have been on a good run but drawn too many and that has been a source of frustration” he told iFollow. “But the conversations we had in the changing room after Ipswich, or at the Training Ground the next day have all been worthwhile. We had an open and honest debate and it paid off with the performance against Charlton.
“It was a good crowd as well and a good way to end a disappointing year. It’s been horrific at times for me and the team but we are looking forward to the turn of the year. But just because you end 2022 doesn’t mean things automatically just change. You have to make things change as a person and as a team.
“You need to be able to look at yourself in a mirror and question everything you have done, and make sure you can be better because of the consequences of the mistakes you have made over the previous 12 months.
“That’s what we will do as people, as a football club and as a team. We’ve played Exeter a couple of times this season, they are a good team and they have been good games so let’s hope for another big crowd and let’s see if we can make it six points from six.”
