Oxford United's under 19s look to build on an encouraging week as they take on Newport County in their first home game of the season.
The U’s were 3-0 winners at local rivas Swindon last weekend and with a number of their players stepping up to play for the senior team in midweek it has been a good week, as Coach Chris Hackett told us
“We came back from our trip to Italy in good spirits and it was important we kept that going in the opening game. We played well last Saturday and then Josh Johnson and Gatlin O’Donkor doing so well for the senior team was a nice bonus for us.
"They are both very grounded and will just keep training hard and trying to do well for us, hoping to get more chances in the senior side I am sure.
“Now we want to finish the week on another good performance.”
Amari Davis-Stephenson is the one absentee with a knee injury sustained in pre-season.
The game takes place at the Bangkok Glass Training Centre and kicks off at 11am.
