REPORT Portsmouth U18 0 Oxford United U18 2

Oxford United u18s remain unbeaten in the league after an excellent 2-0 win in the EFL Youth Alliance away at Portsmouth on Saturday thanks to a double from Adam Smith.

Portsmouth came in to the game top of the division and unbeaten but United showed real character to return from the South Coast with the three points.

The result sees United up to third in the South West Division as they look to retain the title they won last season, with two games in hand on the leaders.

Two good goals from front man Smith secured the win in extremely difficult conditions.

Coach Darren Purse said: “The conditions were terrible, but we dealt with them well.

“It wasn’t a polished performance, but the lads showed real desire and grit to win the game and get the three points.”

United’s next game in the Youth Alliance will be when they host Swindon Town on the 23rd October.
