Oxford United’s young midfielder Ben Davis has had 24 hours to remember, making his debut for the U’s and then being called up to the Thailand national squad.
Ben, 20, came on as a sub in the second half of last night’s game against Stevenage, his first senior appearance since joining from Fulham in August. Now he is celebrating being called up for his country’s senior squad when they travel to Mongolia later in the month.
“I am so proud to be part of the national team” Ben, who was born in Phuket, told us. “It’s quite complicated getting to the game with international travel but I can’t wait to go and it will be fantastic experience.
“In terms of my Oxford debut the result definitely wasn’t what we were after last night but it was great to be part of the squad for the first time. Hopefully I get more chances when I get back but whether it’s with Oxford or Thailand all I can do is train hard, keep working on my game and give it my all every day.”
To celebrate Ben’s call up we asked two young fans in Thailand to interview Ben for us both in English and Thai:
