Oxford United’s under 18s made it two wins from two games with a 4-2 win at Forest Green Rovers on Saturday in the EFL Youth Alliance.
Fresh from an 11-1 win over Cheltenham Town in their first game, the young U’s were again in free-scoring form as two goals from Adam Smith and strikes from Elijah Coe and Will Owens made it back to back wins to start the season.
“It was another strong performance” coach Leon Blackmore-Such told us “and obviously having three of our first year scholars on the scoresheet is great for us. They have all had to settle into life as a scholar under very different circumstances but have done so really well.
“In terms of the game itself then the first half was better than the second. We were 3-1 up and it went back to 4-2 but it’s hard to be too critical when you win the game and score four times away from home. We look sharp, we are taking our chances very well and it has been really encouraging.
“Next up is a League Cup game at home to Swindon on Wednesday, a game that always has that little edge to it.”
