PREVIEW Oxford United U18 v Exeter City U18

Oxford United’s under 18s look to continue their excellent start to the season when they welcome Exeter City to the Oxford Sports Park on Saturday morning.

The young U’s drew level with AFC Bournemouth at the top of the South West Division of the EFL Youth Alliance when they won 3-2 at Cheltenham last weekend after trailing 2-0.

The U’s have been without left-back Sam Johnson and striker Adam Smith through injury in recent weeks as well as winger Tyler Goodrham but have maintained their form despite those losses as Leon Blackmore-Such told us;

“Tyler has been ‘playing up’ a group with the under 21s and we have been asking under 16s to do something similar by playing in the under 18s. We have been delighted with the way that has developed and we are in decent shape.

"The lads are working hard, listening and the performances so far have been pretty consistent. We are learning all the time. Last week we started slowly against Cheltenham and were 2-0 down so let’s see what we have learned from that and see if we can start nice and brightly this time.”

The game is a 12 o’clock kick off and will be played behind closed doors. Follow AcademyOUFC for in game tweets with a report and reaction right here.
