Oxford United supporters can help the club’s official charity at no personal cost during the COVID-19 lockdown by signing up to Easy Fundraising, an online fundraising platform that has partnerships with thousands of retailers.
Following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s call for people to shop online where possible to help prevent the virus from spreading, Oxford United in the Community has reminded club supporters that they can support the charity through uncertain times by signing up to the online portal.
The charity first partnered with Easy Fundraising last year. The portal works by donating money to the charity of your choice each time you shop online at no additional cost. Users simply need to assign Oxford United in the Community as their charity of choice before shopping.
Since its launch in 2005, Easy Fundraising has raised more than £31million through its online community of 1.8million people. Retailers including ebay, Amazon, Sainsburys, M&S and John Lewis have signed up to the online fundraising scheme.
Chris Lowes, Head of Oxford United in the Community, said: “As the nation tackles the global COVID-19 crisis, online shopping has never been more important to our health than now.
“Members of the public have been urged to remain at home and shop online where possible.
“By signing up to Easy Fundraising and selecting Oxford United in the Community as your chosen charity, you can help raise important funds during this difficult period and beyond.
“Easy Fundraising is an excellent tool that is free of charge and can trigger a donation to the charity you choose to support almost every time you shop online.
“We value every donation that is sent to our charity and would like to take the opportunity to thank those that have supported us during these uncertain times. If each Oxford United supporter can get
behind this free initiative, it really will help to make a difference.”
The football club’s official charity helps inspire youngsters to reach their potential and improve their health and wellbeing via the power of football, engagement and education.
Oxford United North Stand season ticket holder Steve Smith who has signed up, said: “The Easy Fundraising scheme is so simple to use, and I encourage every U’s fan to sign up to this brilliant platform.
“Once you are registered, supporters only have to go onto the Easy Fundraising website or app to find out if the retailer they are shopping with is part of the scheme. Easy Fundraising is free, helps support the brilliant work Oxford United in the Community does and doesn’t cost me a penny.”
