Fans at the Game - Spread the Word

Fans are once again proving that once you are part of the Oxford United Family you will always be looked after.

The U’s face Pompey with a place at Wembley at stake in the Sky Bet League 1 play-offs and fans can be there in spirit if not in person, with the ‘Fans At The Game’ idea of cut-outs at the play-offs.

Fans can buy their own recyclable, waterproof cut-out  and have it displayed proudly in the stands, but over the weekend we have had some amazing stories.

For example the Player of the Season award is named after Andrew Knapton, the voice of the London Road who sadly passed away in the summer of 2001 before he got to see the U's at the Kassam Stadium. Friends rallied round to buy the superb trophy that bears his name and have joined together again, with the blessing of his family, to produce a cut-out which means that Andrew will be there for the game.

That follows Oxvox's brilliant idea of making Andy 'Womble' James fan number 1 for the game- all cut-outs are numbered and will be available for collection after the game, once restrictions ease and a safe way can be found to allow that to happen.

The family of John Shuker contacted the club saying that although John is our record appearance holder they didn't have a suitable image for a cut-out. It was our pleasure not just to find a picture but to buy a cut-out and have John's image in the crowd on the day.

Or social media channels are full of similar stories of people buying cut-outs for grandparents or friends who are no longer with us and of groups of friends who normally sit together all buying at the same time to be together once more.

There are so many fantastic stories: have you got one yourself? Do you want to see a familiar face in the crowd against Portsmouth? Then join the fun. Click HERE to visit our Fans At the Game portal - it costs £25 per cut out

Once confirmed, your cut-out is produced, delivered to the Kassam Stadium, and installed. All supporters who purchase their cut-out will also receive the following direct to their email inbox:

  • An E-Programme previewing the game
  • A commemorative E-Ticket
