Oxford United in the Community is holding a football tournament to support girls’ grassroots football.
Coaches from Oxford United’s charity are hosting the event to celebrate and promote girls’ football in the county.
Local girls’ teams are encouraged to enter the day of football which takes place on Sunday November 3rd at Whiteland’s Farm Sports Ground in Bicester.
The Girls Talent ID tournament will identify players who the coaches believe are suitable for the Elite Development Centre. This will provide opportunities for additional training along their grassroots football.
Chris Lowes, Head of Oxford United in the Community, said: “Girls football is growing in popularity and we have noticed an increase in interest following the recent World Cup.
“Supporting and encouraging girls to play sport and lead healthy active lifestyles is an important part of our strategy. We are looking forward to using this tournament to contact and engage with more girls and help them develop their football skills to complement what they are learning at grassroots level.”
U9s through to U14s teams are encouraged to take part. For further information or to register please contact: Rishi Tugnait: rtugnait@oufc.co.uk
